I can't find out how they get in, but I think they come in by way of some water pipes, and then make their way into the attic and walls.
They seem to prefer the space just above the ceiling tiles.
At 12:30 in the morning, I wake up to a thundering herd of squirrels having fun on the ceiling of my bedroom and then again at about 6:00 AM.
Tapping the ceiling and yelling at them doesn't work very well. They just stop for a minute or two.
Looking for something that would just encourage them to find another place to hang out.

Mon, June 19, 2006 - 8:12 AMsquirrels, eh? the only way to get rid of them is to trap them. call an exterminator. they have ways and means to rid you of your problem. i have had squirrels and rats take up residence in my attic. they get in from the power lines that connect one house to the next in a sort of rodent super-highway. according to my exterminator, it's just a chance game whether the little critters choose your attic or your neighbor's. but, they are so, so annoying, aren't they? -

Re: invasive squirrel problem
Mon, August 7, 2006 - 9:28 AMI may discovered an easy way.
A friend told me to sprinkle and dampen "Tide with bleach" on moss.
I had some Tide left over and I sprinkled in around the base of the house where I suspected the squirrels were entering.
Anyway, they all left and never came back. I am hoping the smell of the soap was offensive enough to make them decide to move on or at least messed up their sent trails.

Re: invasive squirrel problem
Sat, March 15, 2008 - 1:52 PMThere is a mess or something dirty outside near where you live. It all starts with the birds chirping improperly when rain is decomposing garbage and such. Then, critters get irritated to stimulate you. Clean up the mess real good and watch.
